OpenStreetMap mapping party

Postby SteveC » Fri Oct 17, 2008 1:22 pm

We're having an OpenStreetMap mapping party in Dallas weekend 1/2 November.

OpenStreetMap is both an Open Source project and a source of Free
GeoData. A sort of Wikipedia for maps. Join us at the mapping party
next weekend and we'll show you some of the amazing things OSM can do.
Like run the maps on your Linux-lovin' devices. Handhelds, PDAs and
UMPCs even. And we'll show you how you can contribute to the map of
everything. Bring your GPS and laptop to follow along with our
examples and get help with configuration issues. Or just watch and
share with the others.

OpenStreetMap: http://www.openstreetmap.org
More OSM details on the wiki. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Dallas
Please RSVP: http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/1243137/

I can also answer any questions about OSM here if you like, and if
anyone has good ideas for a venue or people/groups to contact I'm all
ears.

Best

Steve

Let your friends in GIS, geocaching and cycling / mountain biking
circles know about this too. They might love OSM, even if they don't
get the Open Source angle.

Wow. This is cool and I never heard of this project! Awesome!

Unfortunately, I can't make that weekend :-(

Do post again if you have another event and I will try to be there.

The location is listed as "1 Main Street, Dallas, Tx." nad is mentioned only one place. With parking such a pain how will people overcome this?

FYI... You may want to e-mail this guy directly. I allowed him to sign-up on the board as he appeared to have a legitimate reason for doing so. However, I doubt that he reads these replies to his post. My two cents...

The address I picked up happened to be wrong, it ended up at some pub downtown. No future events are planned at the moment.
