OK, but does it really need to be filtered? That looks like a Brita pitcher to me. And, why would Vader being doing this menial task? Couldn't they have sent one of the stormtroopers or a droid to do this?

We already know he has a breathing problems, maybe he also has other health issues that require him to drink only filtered water. And if you want to make the argument that he's a cyborg, that only supports my argument, as mechanical devices are often sensitive to dirt particles, and other environmental interference.

As for doing it himself, he has a tendency to choke people who piss him off, both of his Death Stars have been blown to hell, he betrayed the Jedi Order, killed his wife, and his children are the leaders of the Rebellion. Who in God's name could he find in the Empire who wouldn't want to slip something in his water, if only to save their own asses from him?

It's a top secret diabolical plan to get red tide algae to mutate and unleash on all those rebel alliance planets.
